Epic Member Spotlight: Lexi Olerud

This month, we spotlight one our newer members to CrossFit Fargo, but still someone who has jumped right into our Community with drive and a warmth that reaches every room she enters! Read on to learn a little more about your fellow CFF rockstar, Lexi Olerud!

1. How long have you been a member at CrossFit Fargo?

I have been a part of CrossFit Fargo since June 2022.

2.. What is your favorite thing about being a CrossFit Fargo athlete?

There is no judgment or intimidation. Everyone is excited when you meet your own personal goals. I love that I get to show up with my workout already planned and the coaches always go through the movements and give advice on what to fix in form.

3. How would you describe the community at CrossFit Fargo?

CrossFit Fargo community is very welcoming. No matter what class I attend, everyone jumps right in to say hi and help out if needed.

4. What advice do you have for someone who is intimidated by group fitness?

I think people don’t like group fitness for the fact that they think everyone is watching and comparing which really isn’t the case. Everyone is so focused on their own workout. I’m typically not paying attention to what others are doing and I know others are doing the same.

5. Favorite music to sweat to?

It definitely depends on what we are doing. If we are doing some heavy lifting I like to listen to Metallica. If it’s more cardio based, then I like to listen to something more upbeat that I can sing to.

6. Favorite movement/workout?

I love a good AMRAP. I feel like I really get to push myself. In my head, I say “Oh I’m only going to be able to get x amount of rounds” but then I surprise myself when I start to see that I can push past that number, whether it’s by a few reps or a full round.

7. Is there a member of the CrossFit Fargo that inspires and motivates you to be better? Feel free to give them a shoutout!

Peyton Gale! She is the one who convinced me to come and she inspires me with her work ethic.

8. Favorite post-workout meal?

Any form of pasta. There is nothing better than buttered noodles with some cheese.

9. What fitness-related goals do you have for 2022?

I don’t have any specific numbers goals for 2022. I turn 30 this year and my goal is to feel confident about myself again. Having two kids has definitely made it difficult to find time to work out and I don’t look the same as I did three years ago, which is totally okay of course. I have decided that 30 is the year to make time for myself.

10. Describe your athletic abilities in five words or less.

Continuing to grow daily

11. Give us your background story.

I grew up in West Fargo and now live there with my own family. We have a 2.5 year old named Harrison and an 8 month old named Nolan. We have three dogs and a cat. My husband is a police officer with Fargo PD and one of our dogs is a K9. I work for West Fargo Public Schools as a Positive Behavior Support Coach. During the fall, I also coach for West Fargo volleyball.

When I was younger, most of my family loved to run so that was the beginning of my workout journey. I used to run in half marathons and a couple of full marathons but it has been a while since I have been able to do that. I did get back into running a little bit this spring by running in the Fargo Marathon 10K with my best friend.
